The SWRCCU are a specialist capability of policing who investigate cyber crimes affecting South West organisations. We also help organisations become more cyber resilient through free guidance and workshops, and deter people from engaging in cyber crime. Around 50% of businesses reported having cyber security breaches or attacks in the last 12 months (DSIT Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2024). Across the UK there were over 49,000 reports of cyber crime in to ActionFraud, the national reporting portal for Fraud and Cyber Crime, which resulted in an estimated loss of £5m. For those fortunate not to experience any material loss, businesses still report being negatively impacted with wider business disruption. Our dedicated Cyber Protect Officers offer free, impartial advice and guidance to organisations of all sizes and sectors on the current threats and simple steps to help protect against them.
